Volunteer group distributes iftar meals for togetherness

Started with an aim to decrease the use of plastics and market the spirit of really like, tolerance and appreciation, Fahaddath Voluntary Group has launched the Ramadan initiative beneath the slogan ‘Fahaddath Huban’ (Speak really like).

The group, in cooperation with Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (Be’ah) and ROP launched the initiative to distribute iftar meals in Muscat on May eight.

Be’ah supported the team by offering eco-friendly water bottles and boxes for iftar meals. The team ready 470 iftar meals in the wilayat of Muttrah and distributed them at site visitors signals and different streets on Wednesday.

Speaking to Muscat Daily
, Ahmed Said al Hosni, leader of the group stated, “Every Monday and Wednesday, we hope to prepare about 500 iftar meals and distribute them to the elderly, taxi drivers and the public at site visitors signals.

“We distribute iftar meals, a bottle of water, a rose along with a small message calling for peace, love and cooperation.”

Hosni stated that the group has been distributing iftar meals because 2015 in Muscat. “Our group comprises nine Omani youths and 200 volunteers. This year’s campaign started in Muttrah. More than 200 volunteers participated such as 30 girls. We cooperate with some Omani households in preparing the meals. We thank Be’ah and ROP for their cooperation.

“This year’s campaign aims to raise awareness on reducing plastic use, minimising wastage of food, spreading love and cooperation among people.”

Talking about the future plans, he stated, “We hope to distribute iftar meals in other governorates of the sultanate next year. Those interested to participate in our activities can reach us at 92890589 or Instagram/Twitter via @fahadath.”
