Deepak Narvekar, senior manager marketing and advertising and public relations officer of GTDC stated, “This is our first visit in the last five years. We are happy to receive positive feedback from Omanis on Goa. We are here to provide first-hand knowledge of beaches and other entertainment options in Goa. We found a huge tourism interest about Goa in Oman. Along with beaches and nightlife, Goa offers yoga, ayurveda and wellness options.”
On security, Narvekar stated that there are round-the-clock police on beaches and lifeguards. Drishti Lifesaving, a water security and rescue service has its personnel on beaches to take care of any emergency. Dhiraj R Vagle, assistant director, Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, stated, “With personnel from Drishti Lifesaving stationed on beaches, drowning cases have come down drastically.”
Vagle stated that GTDC is not only targeting households but senior citizens, groups and person traveller also. “Goa is not only about beaches but one will be surprised to see facilities for medical tourism, spice plantation and wild life tourism. There are bird watching options, beach weddings, adventure sports and carnivals. Our aim is to go beyond beaches and help travellers explore different parts and food of Goa.”
GTDC is advertising Monsoon Tourism and supplying a discount of 20 to 30 per cent on accommodation and meals.
