State Council takes part in IPU meetings in Doha

They will final till April 10. As per a statement Hon Eng Naashiah Saud Mohamed al Kharoosi, State Council member and Hon Dr Aisha Ahmed Yousuf al Washahi participated in the meetings at the 29th session of the Forum of Women Parliamentarians.

Promoting gender equality activities had been discussed which incorporated report of the Office of Women Parliamentarians, report on gender partnership and a assessment of the current IPU activities to market gender equality.

The draft resolutions on the agenda of the 140th General Assembly of the First Union incorporated, ‘The inadmissibility of the use of mercenaries as means of undermining peace and violation of human rights’ ready by the Standing Committee on International Peace and Security and the draft resolution ‘The role of fair and free trade and investment in achieving the goals of sustainable development’ particularly  with regard to financial equality, sustainable infrastructure, market and innovation.

All elements of the draft resolutions had been reviewed from a gender viewpoint to generate gender suggestions and submitted to the committees for inclusion in the amendments to the draft resolutions.

In the exact same context, they participated in a panel discussion titled ‘Equality at work’, which reviewed the widening gender gap in the composition of the world’s labour force.

The workshop focused on the significance of sharing experiences, outstanding practices and methods, legislation and procedures for gender equality in employment.
