Starcare to enter low-expense segment as Saha clinics

The group will be opening a  multi-speciality health-related centre in Samail this month. It is also shortlisting areas for the subsequent ten centres to be rolled out quickly.

Reejo M Joseph, chief operating officer of Saha clinics, stated, “Our first clinic will be a multi-speciality medical centre in Samail, opening later this month. The motto of Saha clinics is ‘Health for All’ on the same lines as that of World Health Organization.”

Joseph added, “Even though a majority of the Saha clinics chain will be small to medium-size facilities, eventually we plan to have larger medical centres and even hospitals under this brand. We are in the process of shortlisting the locations for the next ten centres to be rolled out very soon. All industrial clinics, occupational health services and rehabilitation centres management are also consolidated under Saha clinics vertical this year.”

Dr Askar Kukkadi, managing director, stated that the challenge is to locate a financially viable healthcare delivery model. “We were always aware of the need to cater to the larger population segment whose income is RO500 per month or less. The challenge is to find a financially viable healthcare delivery model which complies with increasingly stringent Ministry of Health and international standards.”

Dr Kukkadi explained, “The other driver for this initiative is the announcement of mandatory insurance in Oman, in which case the premium paid for care will be very low.”
