SQU team develops sultanate’s first CubeSat

It is a kind of miniaturised satellite for space study. The project was proposed and supervised by Dr Amir Mohamed Abdulghani and Sayyid Dr Samir al Busaidi. The students who worked to style the satellite’s payload comprised Abdulaziz Mohammed al Qamshaoui, Luay Khalifa al Yaqoubi and Ali Abdulhamied al Shamali.

Prof Hadj Bourdoucen, dean, College of Engineering, and Dr Mohammed al Badi, head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, SQU supported the project.

The CubeSat has been displayed to market professionals to demonstrate its functions throughout the Demo Day held in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at SQU. The project is in line with the College of Engineering’s vision to perform in the field of space technologies.

The College of Engineering’s group of space technologies and study consists of numerous members of the faculty such as Prof Bourdoucen, Dr Busaidi (Group’s Chair) and Dr Amir Abdulghani.

The team is presently operating on enhancing and integrating the remaining components of this program in order to make sure its perform in an integrated manner.

These kinds of projects will help in realising the dreams of these students keen on pursuing careers in the field of space, science and technologies.
