The occasion was celebrated along with differently abled youngsters of Al Aman Centre for Rehabilitation, parents, youngsters and teachers from Oman Down Syndrome Association, schoolchildren from Al Nawras School, and Al Seeb International School.
Saleh bin Issa al Aghbari, head of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Directorate General of Disabled People, Ministry of Social Development, patronised the occasion. Hilal bin Rashid al Mukhaimi, deputy manager of Al Aman Centre for Rehabilitation welcomed the gathering and shared his views on happiness.
Dr Blessy Prabha Valsaraj, head of the Department of Community and Mental Health at the College of Nursing, welcomed the audience underlining the value of International Day of Happiness, which falls on March 20 each and every year calling for happiness to be offered higher priority.
Nasir Matani, a senior lecturer from the Department of Community and Mental Health addressed the gathering on happiness and its value in day-to-day life. Mohammed Qutishat, Saraswathi Kannekanti, Devan Prabudoss and Divya K Y, lecturers from the division took element in the occasion. Dr Huda al Noumani, assistant dean for Training and Community Services, College of Nursing awarded certificates to the participants and mementos to guests.
As numerous as 200 participants attended the occasion. The nursing students of SQU portrayed the theme of International Day of Happiness, ‘Happier Together’ by means of function play.
Students dressed up as cartoon characters to entertain the youngsters amongst the audience. Gifts and balloons had been also distributed to all the youngsters as a token of happiness. The students also entertained the youngsters with gorgeous face painting. The Oman Down Syndrome Association added colour to the occasion by coordinating a dance efficiency with students from Al Nawras School, as element of World Down Syndrome Day.
