Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al Busaidi, Secretary General in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs patronised more than the farewell ceremony at Said bin Sultan Naval Base.
During the six-month journey, the vessel will go to a number of European nations to take component in the extended sailboat regattas and participate in a number of festivals and celebrations.
The Shabab Oman II vessel seeks to provide its mission of extending bridges of friendship and brotherhood among the sultanate and the globe by highlighting the genuine Omani culture in its numerous international stations. It will highlight the glorious Omani maritime history and ancient Omani heritage.
Sayyid Badr mentioned, “Today we celebrate the launch of RNO vessel Shabab Oman II which is embarking on its fourth international voyage, ‘Masts of Glory and Peace’ to Europe to participate in the long sailboat regattas of this year. I wish the ship’s captain and crew safety and success in representing the sultanate. This voyage and its likes are examples of the Omani civilisation, its glories and the human values of friendship, peace and positive cooperation between the sultanate and other nations and cultures.”
Commodore Saif bin Mohammed al Habsi, Commander of Said bin Sultan Naval Base mentioned, “Under the Royal Order of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, RNO vessel Shabab Oman II departs for the European continent, in its Masts of Glory and Peace voyage. It will participate in many sailing festivals and maritime events that will begin from the Kingdom of Netherlands and end in the Kingdom of Denmark. It will also participate in the long sailboat regattas, beginning in the Kingdom of Denmark, through the ports of Norway and the Kingdom of Denmark. This year’s voyage is added to the timeless glories in the bright history of Oman.”
Captain Ali bin Mohammed al Hosani, Commander of RNOV Shabab Oman II, mentioned, “With the help of Allah, the RNOV Shabab Oman II will sail on its fourth voyage to the European continent. It will participate in many sea and sailing festivals and will take six months. The return will be in October this year.”
The farewell ceremony was attended by a quantity of ministers, a quantity of commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and other military and safety forces, a quantity of undersecretaries, a quantity of ambassadors of friendly nations accredited to the sultanate, a quantity of SAF senior officers and other military and safety forces.
