The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) signed an agreement with Al Madina Development and Supply in coordination with the Information Technology Authority (ITA) at Knowledge Oasis Muscat lately. The agreement was signed by H E Ahmed bin Nasser al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism, Dr Salim bin Sultan al Ruzaiqi, CEO, ITA and Sheila H Jamal, CEO of Al Madina Development and Supply.
The agreement contains improvement of the ministry’s official portals, Oman Tourism, Experience Oman and 113 electronic services. The eServices contain 84 services offered to citizens, 17 to government institutions, eight for workers and 4 services for businessmen.
These services contain investment services, tourism improvement, organizing and details and tourism promotion. Dr Ruzaqi mentioned that this agreement is an crucial step in the field of digital transformation of MoT as effectively as the eGovernment method in basic.
“The project aims to study the services of the Ministry of Tourism and review the procedures for simplifying and re-engineering their operations, in addition to studying the infrastructure, systems, applications and techniques used to develop them to cope with emerging new technologies.”
He added that the project is created to decrease administrative burden and the use of electronic certification to confirm private information. “It is expected that the project will reduce the number of printed documents, reduce waiting time and help review the status of the request and automatic verification of the applicant’s data.”
