The date, as per the United Nations General Assembly, was declared as the International Day of Yoga in 2014.
Speaking throughout a press conference at the Indian Embassy on Tuesday, H E Munu Mahawar, Ambassador of India to Oman mentioned, “Like every year we are celebrating the yoga day with enthusiasm and expectations. The Embassy of India, Muscat, has been celebrating the annual International Day of Yoga in Oman with the support and participation of the Government of Oman, numerous yoga organisations as well as yoga teachers and practitioners. Last year, the embassy celebrated the fourth International Day of Yoga where approximately 5,000 Omanis, Indians and other yoga enthusiasts, practitioners and beginners turned up.”
Eighteen yoga organisations in Oman will actively take element to make the occasion productive. The occasion will commence from 7pm onwards and totally free mats and T-shirts will be offered. Similar yoga sessions will also be held in other cities, such as Salalah, Sohar and Sur.
H E Mahawar added, “We are pleased to invite all yoga enthusiasts and practitioners in Oman, along with members of their families (children above the age of 11), to participate in the mega yoga session. Until now we have almost 3,000 registrations.”
Doors will open at 6pm and all participants are to be seated by six.45pm. Interested organisations and people, which includes nationals and expatriates can register on https://www.indemb-oman.gov.in/
