The agreement, which aims at aligning views on their safety, stability and prosperity of their folks, was signed on behalf of the Omani government by H E Sayyid Badr bin Saud al Busaidi, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs, although Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson signed it on behalf of the UK government.
The pact aims at deepening the close military relations which have been manifested in bilateral workouts, especially Al Saif al Sarea (Swift Sword three) final year, which saw the biggest UK-Oman deployment.
Sayyid Badr mentioned that the agreement culminates the efforts of the government of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and the government of Her Majesty the Queen to boost the current cooperation and strategic partnership.
“It is a milestone in the history of both the nations,” he mentioned.
“The signing of the agreement reaffirms the importance of optimising joint military efforts to ensure the security and stability of both the friendly countries and pave the way for more cooperation in the field of defence and joint exercises in pursuance of the agreement objectives.”
On his element, Williamson mentioned, “It is a pleasure to sign this agreement, bringing us even closer to a single of our most crucial partners. This is a historic landmark moment of our mutual safety.
“Gulf safety is our safety. It is essential that we expand our horizons and grow to be a genuinely worldwide Britain following we leave the European Union.”
