Nearly 90,000 visit Dhofar in five days

Till July 29 afternoon, altogether 294,823 folks had visited Dhofar in the khareef season. And among July 30 and August three, 88,679 folks visited Oman’s southern governorate with the all round quantity touching 383,502 because the 3-month khareef season started on June 21.

According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information’s (NCSI) annual statistical survey of the khareef season, Omanis constituted the highest quantity of guests.

NCSI stated, ‘The number of visitors to Salalah until the end of August 3 stood at 383,502 compared to 491,871 in the same period last year, a decline of 22 per cent. Of these, 75.2 per cent were Omanis, followed by Emiratis at 6.5 per cent and the rest GCC citizens at 8.7 per cent.’

Increase in hotel revenues

Three to five-star hotels in Dhofar governorate registered a 22 per cent boost in revenues in June this year compared to the exact same period of 2018.

‘There were 9,892 guests in these hotels in June registering an increase of 15 per cent compared to the same period of 2018,’ NCSI stated.

The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) has stated there are 35 hotel establishments getting vacationers this season. ‘They have a total of 4,115 rooms with 6,132 beds,’ MoT stated.
