National Blockchain Application Symposium starts in Salalah

The opening ceremony was held below the patronage of Sheikh Salim bin Mustahail al Mashani, Advisor at the Diwan of Royal Court.

The initial session of the seminar discussed the experiences of governmental institutions in the application of sophisticated technologies, which includes blockchain applications and the Internet of Things (IoT), the possibilities and challenges they face, in addition to reviewing the improvement of national capacities in government institutions and the mechanisms of their implementation.

The second session discussed the function of nearby organizations in the application of blockchain, IoT and other sophisticated technologies and their function in accelerating the adoption of these technologies and their future projects in supporting this sector and techniques of cooperation among them.

The third session reviewed the national capacities in blockchain, IoT and sophisticated technologies, the initiatives of academic institutions in the education and improvement of national capabilities and the function of the Blockchain Club in the implementation of preparatory programmes.

On the sidelines of the seminar, the National Blockchain Applications Exhibition was opened, which showcases government experiences in the application of sophisticated technologies, which includes blockchain technologies, in addition to reviewing student projects associated to this technologies at the bachelor and master’s levels, as effectively as the projects of Oman Blockchain Club’s members.

Activities of Oman Blockchain Club aim at creating skilled national competencies capable of programming sophisticated applications making use of the blockchain technologies platform.
