Muscat-wide campaign to eradicate dengue-carrying mosquito from tomorrow

The launching ceremony will be held below the auspices of H E Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Obaid al Sa’eedi, Minister of Health, at Majlis al Sayyida Fatima bint Ali Mosque in North Al Hail. Aedes aegypti
is the principal vector of the dengue virus. The campaign is becoming organised with the objective of eliminating Aedes aegypti following instances of dengue fever in Muscat governorate.

The ministry and the municipality, with the cooperation of walis’ offices as nicely as volunteers, have finalised the preparations for conducting the campaign in the governorate’s wilayats. The authorities have set up plans, created provision for all essential sources, and educated field teams that will go to some households in Seeb, Bausher and Muttrah.

Aedes aegypti
is the main vector accountable for transmitting viruses such as Zika, dengue and chikungunya. It dwells in urban areas and feeds throughout daylight.
