According to the rule, employers are to give a break to the workers among 12.30pm and three.30pm in the course of the months of June, July and August.
It is inside this purview that the Ministry of Manpower’s Occupational Safety and Health Department organised a Heat Stress Campaign 2019 for the fifth year.
Under the banner ‘Heat Stress Can be Deadly’, the campaign involved the neighborhood neighborhood to play an efficient element in reducing heat stress and its dangers. “The campaign that started in the beginning of May will officially conclude on September 16,” stated Eng Zakariya Khamis al Saadi, an official from MoM.
MoM officials visited much more than 1,000 sites to produce awareness amongst the workers. “We visited over 1,000 construction sites across the country since the beginning of May,” Eng Saadi added. He added that the teams visited various malls as effectively to spread awareness.
The Ministry of Manpower’s order was issued below Article 16 of the Regulations of the Occupational Safety and Health in the establishments topic to the Omani Labour Law promulgated below the Ministerial Decision No 286/2008.
“It is expected that the ratio of compliance of companies with these orders would increase and cases of heat exhaustion and sun stroke would come down, as a result of continued efforts by creating awareness,” he added.
