Largest aquarium in Middle East to open at Mall of Muscat on April 15

Muscat – 

One of the most anticipated projects in the nation, Mall of Muscat, is set to open its doors to the public on April 15. The crucial highlight of the ambitious project is the Oman Aquarium, which spread more than eight,000sq m is the biggest such facility in the Middle East. It will have more than 30,000 animals and several exhibits such as a stroll-via tunnel.

Speaking to Muscat Daily
, Abdullah al Jarwani, member, board of directors, Mall of Muscat, stated, “A majority of the shops are rented out, with over 76 per cent of them to open with the launch.”

He added that Oman Aquarium will be opened the identical day whilst other attractions like Snow Village and Go-karting tracks will open at a later date.

About the aquarium project, the business stated, “It will be the largest aquarium in the Middle East. The aquarium will contain 3mn litres of water, 50 plus exhibits and over 30,000 animals. There will be a variety of beautiful fish, sharks, rays, octopus…there will even be penguins and crocodiles.”

About the material utilized in the aquarium, the business stated that ‘in total we have installed 92 acrylic panels which amount to a total weight of 81 tonnes of acrylic’. The aquarium is also collaborating with educational institutions and will study coral relocation and development prices of a quantity of Omani coral species. It is also searching at fecundity and breeding behaviours of Amphiprion omanensis, which is a clown fish species. It is certain to Oman and only identified in a couple of places of Dhofar and Masirah Island.

Central to the aquarium encounter will be a ‘Voyage of Discovery’ with the illustrious Omani seafarer Ahmad Ibn Majid, who sailed the Arabian Sea and globe oceans throughout the mid-1,400s.
