‘Internet subscriptions up 5% in May’

Of this, fixed broadband Internet connections, which have much more than 256KB speed, improved by five.two per cent to 443,884 in May 2019 whereas fixed narrowband Internet connections, which have much less than 256KB speed, fell by three.three per cent to two,155 subscriptions at the finish of May 2019, according to the newest information released by National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The quantity of active mobile broadband subscribers rose by .9 per cent to four.150mn in May 2019, from four.113mn by the finish of December 2018.

Total fixed phone lines rose by two.six per cent to 574,627 at the finish of May 2019, from 560,326 subscribers by December 2018.

According to the NCSI report, the quantity of voice-more than-web protocol (VoIP) lines surged by six.7 per cent to 192,300 from 180,186 subscribers by the finish of December 2018.

Further, analogue fixed phone lines rose by .two per cent to 324,926 from 324,129 subscribers in the course of the period below assessment. Public payphone connections remained unchanged at six,801 whereas ISDN channels rose by two.9 per cent to 48,949 subscribers.

The total quantity of mobile subscribers improved by two.five per cent to six.601mn by the finish of May 2019 compared to six.440mn subscribers by the finish of December 2018.
