Indians to get chip-primarily based passports quickly: PM Modi

It is functioning on a centralised program in which all passport solutions will be offered from Indian embassies and consulates, he added.

Modi was addressing the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2019 in the northern Indian city of Varanasi on Tuesday. “Indian embassies and consulates are being connected to the Passport Seva Project worldwide,” Modi stated as reported by Indian media.

He also announced that the government is functioning to simplify the procedure of issuing visas to PIO (Person of Indian Origin) and OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card holders.

Modi stated that more than 200,000 Indians stranded due to crisis scenarios abroad have been helped by the government in the final 4-and-a-half years.

Organised by the Ministry of External Affairs and the government of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, the Indian diaspora conclave in Varanasi, which concluded on Wednesday, was attended by practically five,000 delegates.
