Marwan bin Abdul Hakim al Ghassani, director of promotions in the Directorate General of Tourism in Dhofar, stated that well-known destinations in the governorate are Al Baleed and Samharam archaeological websites, Shasir Area and Wadi Dokka.
He stated that 34 hotels and hotel apartments have got tourism licences. Ghassani stated that Dhofar has four,115 rooms and six,312 beds to meet tourist demands.
Saud bin Hamad al Alawi, director of Tourism Department in South Sharqiyah, stated that the governorate remains a main tourist location all through the year. “The pleasant weather during summer at some sites such as Ras al Hadd, Al Ashkharah and coastal areas has been appreciated by visitors.” There are 55 hotel facilities which provide two,078 beds in the South Sharqiyah governorate.
The director of Tourism Department in North Batinah governorate stated that there are 30 hotel establishments which have 1,139 rooms. Of these, 13 hotels provide 859 rooms, 12 hotel apartments have 248 rooms and 3 guest homes provide 17 rooms, 1 green inn and 1 rest home.
Among the well-known tourist attractions in Sohar are Sultan
Qaboos Grand Mosque, Saharoo Corniche, Silver Jubilee Park, Sahban fountain in Wadi al Jizzi, Halahil Bani Ghaith village and the Al Rafha neighbourhood.
Nasser bin Marhoon al Abdali, director of Tourism Department in Al Wusta, stated that the governorate is recognized for its pristine beaches which are surrounded by rocks, particularly in Ras Madrakha and Al Shuwair in the wilayat of Duqm. About the accommodation facilities, he stated that there are 13 hotel establishments in the governorate supplying a total of 592 rooms.
Mohammed al Dhahawai, director of Tourism Department in Musandam, stated that the governorate is recognized for its geographical diversity. He stated that Musandam has eight hotels and two hotel apartments comprising 513 rooms with 752 beds.
Zahran bin Mohammed al Nabhani, director of Tourism Department in Buraimi, stated that there are 26 hotels which provide 954 rooms. The governorate sees visitors from inside Oman and the UAE.
