During the go to, which came as element of the sultanate’s participation in Paris Book Fair as a unique guest, H E Dr Hasani was accompanied by H H Sayyida Dr Mona bint Fahad al Said, Assistant Vice Chancellor for International Cooperation at Sultan Qaboos University, H E Sheikh Hamad bin Hilal al Ma’amari, Undersecretary for Cultural Affairs in the Ministry of Heritage and Culture and members of the accompanying delegation.
The minister and the delegation toured the library, which contains specialised collections of books, maps, images, manuscripts, coins and medals.
The library has much more than 14mn books, which includes 5mn books that can be browsed on-line for free of charge and in all languages. It contains 250,000 manuscripts, 360,000 periodicals, 800,000 maps, 2mn musical pieces, 1mn audios and tens of thousands of film supplies and photographs.
