H E Dr Sa’eedi was elected at the meeting of ABHS which started on Monday at the Secretariat General of the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
Dr Haifa Abu Ghazalah, assistant secretary basic and head of the Social Affairs Sector at the Secretariat General of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health mentioned that this meeting is following up the implementation of Decision No 1 of the 52nd Ordinary Session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health held in May in Geneva, Switzerland.
Dr Haifa added that the meeting is discussing several problems which includes the draft statutes and the council’s guidelines of procedures.
The Supreme Council of ABHS holds meeting annually in the presence of most members which includes the president or vice president who are elected by the members.
The choices of the Supreme Council are taken by a majority vote of the attendees. The High Commission consists of six of the Arab Health Ministers chosen by the Council of Arab Health Ministers, the Minister of Health in the nation of the headquarters, two representatives of every Arab nation, as effectively as an Arab representative of the Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean of the World Health Organization, and the secretary basic of the Union of Arab Doctors.
Professor Omar Awadh al Rawas from Oman was elected as the secretary basic of the Arab Board of Health Specializations in May this year.
