Fak Kurbah campaign 2019 targets 750 insolvency cases

This year’s campaign was launched below the auspices of Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali al Qatabi, state advisor.

Dr Mohammed Ibrahim al Zadjali, president of OLA, told Muscat Daily that the most recent edition of Fak Kurbah seeks to close the largest quantity of cases right after the association formed a committee to sort various files that have been nominated by the Execution Departments in the courts, according to priority and humanitarian circumstance of the insolvents.

“Following the success of last year when we closed 510 cases, this year we are targeting 750 cases. We will approach different institutions and individuals to support this charitable work, through various means,” he mentioned.

“This year’s campaign will run for two months and we will also take it to Sohar and Nizwa. We call upon all to come forward and be part of this initiative,” he added.


Dr Zadjali mentioned the initiative final year helped a total of 510 insolvents from 36 jurisdictions about the sultanate.

“The total collected amount was RO405,838,” he mentioned.

For the sixth year, Fak Kurbah initiative has been maintaining in thoughts the aim to resolve the biggest quantity of cases of the folks who got arrest warrants issued against them, executed or below implementation, believing that every individual deserves a second likelihood, and that Omani neighborhood had set the instance of compassion, solidarity, and tireless pursuit for creating excellent deeds.

In 2012, when the very first edition was launched, ten lawyers volunteered to perform and contributed in assisting release 44 prisoners. The second edition in 2014 had a broader effect, covering most of the sultanate’s courts and was accompanied with a legal exhibition to assist raise  neighborhood awareness. Sixty volunteering lawyers worked in it and contributed in releasing 304 folks.

The third edition in 2015 saw the release of 422 prisoners whilst the fourth edition in 2017 secured the release of 252 folks.
