Preparations for the 50th National Day celebrations in 2020 have began in proper earnest. The Supreme Committee for National Day Celebrations which supervises the activities each year have launched a competitors for designing the emblem of the 50th National Day 2020.
Speaking to Muscat Daily
, an official from the Supreme Committee for National Day Celebrations, stated, “The 2020 National Day will coincide with His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s 50 years of rule. So, celebrations will occur at a grand scale all more than the nation.
“That’s why we have already started working on the project. This emblem is one of the elements of the grand celebrations. Be it lighting, decorations or other celebrations, there will be local and international participations.”
The official stated that an international firm will survey the nation and determine about the lighting arrangements for subsequent year’s celebrations.
Emblem competitors
According to the guidelines of the competitors, the style need to contain the emblem of the sultanate and the words (50th National Day) and the quantity (50). “The emblem must be distinctive, expressive and creatively designed. The emblem slogan must reflect the Blessed Renaissance in the last 50 years,” the official stated.
He stated that the competitors is open to all Omanis, expatriates and Omani institutions. A participant can submit up to 3 style entries. “An entry need to be accompanied by a short explanation of the style thought and what the elements of the emblem symbolise. The emblem need to not be a replica of any other emblem developed for any celebration, whether or not neighborhood or international.
“The emblem must be printed on an A4 size paper with the name, address and phone number of the designer and a CD of the design must be attached in AI and JPG formats. All design entries will be the property of the committee and not entitled to claim.”
The official stated that the winner will have to make the required style modifications as per the requirement. “The winner will receive RO5,000.”
The deadline for submission of entries is October two, 2019. “The entries must be submitted in a sealed envelope addressed to the General Secretariat of the Supreme Committee for National Day Celebrations.”
