Verbeek had cited individual factors to quit right after top Oman for the initial time in the knockout stage of 2019 Asian Cup in the UAE.

The 57 year old Erwin, who is the elder of the renowned Koeman siblings, had final served as the interim coach of Turkish giant Fenerbahce. His younger brother, Ronald Koeman, is the manager of the Netherlands team.

Koeman’s managerial profession began at the renowned Dutch club, PSV Eindhoven, as a U21 manager and later as club’s assistant manager in 2001.

He then had stints with an additional large Holland club, Feyenoord, prior to taking up the activity as Hungary manager from April 2008-July 2010.

Koeman then worked as assistant to his brother Ronald at Southampton and Everton prior to joining Turkish club final August.
