The event, in addition to felicitating south Indian artistes in Oman and India, will also donate a component of the funds collected via the programme for the Association for Welfare of the Handicapped Children.
The programme will jointly be organised by Taal Events and Ekta Pravasi Oman. Media personnel, social workers and film directors will also be amongst the numerous folks who will be awarded at the programme.
Veteran Malayalam film actor, Jagathy Sreekumar will be the guest of honour. The programme will witness performances by well-known artistes like Manoj K Jayan, Roma, Kalyani Nair, Aswathy Sreekanth, Anwar Sadath, Rahna, Mridula Warrier, Nazeer Samkranthi. Akku Akbar, the eminent film director, will also be present on the occasion.
Manoj Karavut, the coordinator of the programme, stated, “Ekta Pravasi Oman is an organisation for non-resident Indians. The organisation is at present engaged in Mission 2020 which aims at rehabilitation of beggars. In Oman, this organisation is a year old.
The organisation aims at supplying a assisting hand to non-resident Indians who are away from their dear and close to ones. The organisation functions purely on Gandhian principle.
“As part of the event we are honouring a few individuals who are engaged in social service in the country. We have tried our level best to be honest in the selection.”
While Mammootty from Makka Hypermarket will be awarded the Ekta Pravasi CSR Award, Zakkariah and Jasmine Yusouf will be provided the Ekta Pravasi Social Welfare Award and Kabir Yousuf, the Media Person Award. Unni Arts will be provided the Art Award, the Public Popularity Award will be provided to Akku Akbar and Lifetime Achievement Award to Sajimon George.
