The Sohar-primarily based group has currently constructed and refurbished 17 homes, assisting 65 citizens reside in the comfort of a modern day housing unit. It aims to construct and refurbish yet another 11 homes producing it 28 by the finish of this year.
The group comprising 80 volunteers is tirelessly functioning below a campaign titled Manzil Yawihim

, Ali Saleh al Balushi, head of Media Committee in Takaful Suhar Social Charity Team, which is operating the campaign, mentioned, “We operate under the umbrella of Committee for Social Development in the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) in Sohar. The team consists of 80 private and government staff and students. We started the campaign in 2016.”
Balushi mentioned that the campaign aims to boost the normal of living of social safety households. “We have constructed nine new homes and refurbished eight benefiting 65 Omanis from the campaign so far. The price of refurbishing and creating a home is among RO10,000 and RO20,000. We aid these households whose month-to-month earnings does not exceed RO400.
“The family must not have obtained a housing loan from any government agency. We follow certain specifications when building or renovating a house suiting the Omani environment.”
Balushi mentioned that it hasn’t been simple to raise finances for the project more than the years. “We faced problems in raising money because of the overall economic situation. As a result, we established a media committee to create awareness about our work. We have received financial support from many people and some private sector companies. We seek to cooperate with other volunteer teams and communities in Sohar to help poor families. We thank businessmen and private and governmental institutions for their support.”
