Aerial pesticide spraying on in Dakhliyah, Sharqiyah

The aerial spraying of pesticides is becoming carried out in Dakhliyah and Sharqiyah governorates covering about 10,000 acres of farm land.

H E Dr Ahmed bin Nasser al Bakri, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Dr Saleh bin Mohammed al Abri, director common of Agricultural Development and Dr Salim bin Ali al Khattari, director of Plant Protection Research Centre, witnessed the aerial spraying in the targeted villages in the wilayat of Dima Wa al Taien in North Sharqiyah. Fourteen villages had been targeted in the wilayat.

The team is making use of pesticides advised for ultra-low volume (ULV) spraying to combat the infection.

The ministry stated that the Directorate General of Agricultural Development in coordination with the Directorate General for Agriculture and Livestock had set a timetable for the execution of the aerial spraying so that it was compatible with the proper stage of infection.

This was needed to accomplish maximum efficiency in controlling the bug.

This year’s programme aims to conduct spraying in about 10,000 acres of palm trees in different governorates of northern Oman.

The ministry is looking for to minimize the region of air spraying by half compared to 2018. The ministry sprayed about 20,000 acres of farm land final year.
