Value of Unesco’s Sultan Qaboos Award improved to $100,000

Oman has also improved the worth of the award from US$70,000 to US$100,000.

The renewal came at the meeting of the joint committee comprising the Programs and Foreign Relations Committee, led by H E Dr Samirah bint Mohammed al Moosa, Oman’s Permanent Delegate to Unesco, and the Financial and Administrative Committee led by Michel Spinellis, Permanent Delegate of Greece to Unesco, on the sidelines of 205th session of the Unesco Executive Council, held in Paris.

During the meeting, the Joint Committee discussed renewing the Unesco awards such as Sultan Qaboos Award for Environment Preservation.

After Oman’s Permanent Delegate delivered a presentation on the award, the draft choice was regarded as and unanimously authorized for yet another six coming years.

Unesco secretariat basic expressed its appreciation for the efforts produced by Oman in atmosphere protection and its cooperation with the UN physique in this field.

It also appreciated the choice to improve the worth of the award to US$100,000.
