In its second meeting for the year, The Research Council (TRC) board authorized a proposal to restructure the Open Research Grants (ORG) programme, the initial analysis assistance programme established by the council in 2009.
The meeting was held on Sunday at the TRC headquarters at the Innovation Park Muscat, with the participation of H H Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq al Said, advisor to His Majesty the Sultan, and chairman of TRC.
ORG is TRC’s primary analysis assistance programme that has contributed to analysis capacity developing in the sultanate. The new proposed restructure aims to activate the part of analysis institutions a lot more by means of self-improvement and management of their personal analysis programmes by granting them the privileges to evaluate, fund and stick to up the implementation of analysis proposals inside their personal institutions, taking into consideration that focus should be paid to analysis projects that address the sultanate’s national priorities.
The board also reviewed the outcomes of the science and technologies indicators for the years 2016 and 2017. The indicators are updated each and every two years, coinciding with a survey carried out by Unesco Institute for Statistics. The board also authorized the proposed spending budget for 2019.
