The meeting was held inside the framework of joint efforts to address the possible damages to communications networks due to Tropical Cyclone Mekunu in the governorates of Dhofar and Al Wusta. The meeting was chaired by the TRA deputy CEO for Frequency Spectrum in the presence of representatives of MoTC, and telecom operators Omantel, Ooredoo, Awasr and Oman Broadband Company.
The meeting discussed activating emergency plans to address the issues that could arise from this climate situation and assess the preparation. The meeting also reviewed a quantity of precautionary measures as per the emergency program such as the readiness of the emergency team to function round-the-clock to make sure the operation of communication networks throughout and following the tropical situation and guaranteeing all the teams carry out their duties effectively.
TRA has urged telecom operators to verify the readiness of domestic roaming in Dhofar for usage if the want arises.
