ROHM presents La Sonnambula on Jan 18, 20

Completed in 1831 close to the finish of Bellini’s brief life, La Sonnambula is 1 of his very best-identified operas and a landmark function in the bel canto (gorgeous singing) operatic repertoire, stated a press release.

The story issues Amina a sleepwalker (sonnambula), who is an orphan about to be married to Elvino, a wealthy landowner. Elvino becomes jealous when Amina sleepwalks into the space of Count Rodolfo, son of the late Lord of the village.

Amina is cruelly cast off till, throughout her subsequent bout of sleepwalking, Elvino is significantly moved when he hears Amina singing of her adore for him. When Amina awakens, the wedding preparations resume.

The lead singers are renowned for exquisite bel canto performances. The sophisticated young lyric soprano, Rosa Feola, who won 3 prizes at the Plácido Domingo World Opera Competition 2010 and graces the world’s very best stages, honours ROHM with her debut as Amina. Elvino is sung by award-winning tenor Antonino Siracusa who enjoys an illustrious profession in Europe and abroad. Nicola Ulivieri who sings Conte Rodolfo is gifted with a gorgeous bass voice and a fine method.

One of the excellent attractions of this compelling and magical production by Arena di Verona is the naturalistic staging with sets and costumes masterfully created by the well-known Argentine director Hugo de Ana whose function is characterised by pictorial insight, sensitivity and elegance.

ROHM presents Bellini’s great opera, La Sonnambula on Thursday and Saturday at 7pm.
