Mudhi Abdallah Abdul Rahman al Balushi, a member of Sawarah team stated, “More than 80 volunteers of our team along with the residents of Ras al Ruwais conducted a campaign to clean Ras al Ruwais beach. The main aim of the initiative was to spread the message of environment conservation among people.”
The team promoted the initiative via social media just before it began. “We promoted the campaign before it was launched through the social media so that more people can get associated with it and more can realise the gravity of the situation. We used the hashtag ‘50 hours of work for the environment’ as the campaign was held for 50 hours with the support of Oman LNG Development Foundation and residents of the area,” Mudhi stated.
The Ras al Ruwais beach sees numerous turtles and uncommon birds and hence it is crucial that we maintain the location clean, she added. Highlighting the value of preserving nature and its beauty, Mudhi stated, “We believe photography is a powerful medium, but it is more important to keep a place clean than just take its picture. We need to ensure that the beauty of an area is preserved.”
She also wished that all members of the neighborhood participate in such activities that are aimed at preservation of beaches, coasts and the protection of atmosphere.
