Announcing the selection on its Twitter account, MoTC stated that operations of all incoming and outgoing flights will be transferred from the existing airport to the new 1 on March 20.
H E Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Salim al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications, stated that the new airport serves as a gateway to the planet and a landmark of the modern day state preferred by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
He stated that the new airport will be an essential asset of the national economy in light of the development witnessed by the civil aviation and other sectors.
H E Dr Futaisi referred to as upon all concerned parties to make the required arrangements to make sure the smooth transition of operations and passenger site visitors.
He stated that the ministry and its strategic partners are prepared to operate the new passenger terminal developing right after getting final confirmation of the readiness of all its systems via the operational tests carried out throughout the previous handful of months.
H E Dr Futaisi added that almost six,200 citizens and expatriates took element in the trial run at the new airport which saw about 500 flights taking off and landing in the simulation physical exercise.
