Omani lady to scale Wadi al Sarmi mountain to celebrate Women’s Day

Speaking to Muscat Daily
, Badour, stated, “The Tourism Department in North Batinah is organising the Adventure Tourism and Mountain Climbing Day to celebrate Omani Women’s Day. I will participate in this event and climb the Wadi al Sarmi mountain in Saham, North Batinah. We will start the expedition at 11am. There will be many men and women who will join me.”

Mountain climbing is not straightforward, she stated. “I train daily in the gym for three to four hours. Mountain climbing needs patience and determination. I took up mountain climbing to prove that Omani women can achieve their goals through hard work and determination. A climber should be patient, fit and aware of the risks associated with climbing.”

Badour has scaled numerous summits in the previous such as Ramlat Jadilah in Oman (the world’s highest sand dune), Mt Damavand in Iran, Mt Moses and St Catherine in Sinai, Egypt, Jebel Jais in the UAE and Jebel Shams.

Talking about the future, she stated, “I aim to climb most of the world famous peaks in order to promote Oman and support the cause of Omani women in the world.”
