Oman Woman of the Year Awards 2018 announced

Organised by Muscat Daily
, the evening certainly belonged to the ladies, as 23 winners with varied backgrounds sat amongst a captive audience, quickly to be awarded with trophies for their outstanding achievements. It was the very first time that ladies from such diverse fields and age groups have been becoming felicitated on a frequent platform in Oman.

“We’ve gathered here today to celebrate women who have made a difference in fields as diverse as technology, customer service, arts, education, sports, to name a few,” mentioned Mohana Prabhakar, chief executive of Apex Press and Publishing, who welcomed the attendees.

She pointed out that becoming a effective or powerful lady was not about asking for concessions or particular remedy. Rather, it was about earning respect for one’s personal capabilities and asking not to be treated differently.

The audience comprised guests nominated for the different awards along with their family members members, pals and colleagues who have been present in big numbers to cheer them as they proceeded to get their coveted trophies – an acrylic figurine in a wealthy lilac hue, signifying the grace of womanhood.

Every awardee received a tumultuous applause from the audience as the spotlight led them to the dais accompanied by vibrant music.

And, as Barka Shahbal al Bakry, who received the Lifetime Achievement award for her considerable contribution to the neighborhood, summed up, “This was an excellent function and I am very, very pleased. It’s not so much about the appreciation but the acknowledgment of my work. I hope it will be an inspiration for other women to follow the steps of the awardees in all the categories.”
