Oman has won eight awards at the Tenth Arab Tourism Media Oscars, chief amongst them becoming Best City award for Muscat and Best Tourism Authority for the Ministry of Tourism. The awards had been announced by Zurab Pololikashvili, secretary common of the UNWTO on the sidelines of the ITB Berlin 2018.
Sheikh Salim Oufeet al Shanfary, director of Dhofar Municipality, got the Best Government Personality that supports Arab Tourism for year 2017 whilst Sheikh Salim bin Ahmed al Ghazali as the very best Arab Tourism Investor for year 2017. The Public Authority for Radio and Television won the Best Media Authority that Supports Local Arab Tourism for year 2017, whilst Oman newspaper won the very best Arab Newspaper in Tourism Coverage for year 2017.
The Best Airline supporting tourism was bagged by SalamAir, whilst Muscat won the Best Arab Tourism City for year 2018. Dr Sultan al Yahya’i, director of Arab Tourism Media Center, mentioned that much more than 1.5mn voters participated in picking the winners electronically. He added 187 participants from 14 Arab nations participated and that leading winners had been from Oman, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
