Oman scoops leading two titles at planet photography contest

The award ceremony will be held on June 13 at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Oman was represented by the photographic society of the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Sciences at the occasion.

The sultanate won the World Cup awards in the below-16 and below-21 categories. FIAP announced that the sultanate won the World Cup for the below-16 segment with 459 points followed by Slovenia which won the gold medal (439 points). Serbia won the silver medal (434 points) and Russia, bronze (421 points).

The sultanate also won the World Cup with 437 points in the jury evaluation of the below-21 category. Norway won the gold medal (427 points) followed by Bulgaria which won the silver medal (413 points) and Cyprus, bronze medal (412 points). Oman also won 4 person awards. Maalai bint Hwaishel al Shikili won the silver medal and Hayat bint Yahya al Balushi bagged the bronze medal in the below-16 segment.

In the below-21 segment Qais bin Salim al Badda’ei won the silver medal and Abdullah bin Said bin Salem al Ruzaiqi won the bronze medal. Oman has previously won the World Cup in 2012, 2014 and 2016. The award was established in 1946 in Switzerland.
