Muscat Private Hospital gets JCI accreditation

JCI accreditation is the ‘gold’ regular for US and European hospitals which sustain higher levels of patient care and security.

Subba Rao, hospital director of Muscat Private Hospital, stated, “MPH has always been a forerunner in quality improvement and patient safety. We were the first ones to bring the JCI accreditation to Oman. MPH has always set benchmarks in patient care and healthcare delivery systems. The JCI accreditation is a testimony to Muscat Private Hospital constant endeavour to provide world-class patient care and maintain highest standards in healthcare delivery systems in Oman. The JCI accreditation for the third time is expected to help the hospital strengthen community confidence in the quality and safety in patient care, treatment and service. It will also help organise and strengthen patient safety efforts.”

Sandeep Kumar, CEO – Oman &amp UAE, UME Group, said, “The JCI accreditation is a recognition and reiteration of Muscat Private Hospital’s commitment to provide healthcare services of international standards in the country. Our endeavour is to provide excellent clinical outcomes and accreditation has helped us in this. JCI accreditation standards are based on international consensus standards and set uniform, achievable expectations for structures, processes and outcomes for hospital.”

JCI’s evaluation of Muscat Private Hospital was carried out from March 19 to 22 by a team of international healthcare specialists which includes a medical doctor, a nurse and an administrator. The accredited hospital should also undergo an onsite survey by JCI each 3 years. The JCI requirements concentrate on places that straight effect patient care. These consist of access to care, assessment of individuals, infection handle, patient and loved ones rights and education. Standards also address facility management and security, employees qualifications, high quality improvement, organisational leadership and management of details.

JCI is a division of Joint Commission Resources Inc, an affiliate of the Joint Commission on Accreditation for Healthcare Organisations, an independent non-governmental and not-for-profit organisation to enhance the high quality healthcare in the US. More than 150 hospitals in Europe, Middle East, South America, and so on have got JCI accreditation.
