A truck carrying date palm trees from an agricultural quarantined area in Sohar was seized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MoAF). According to the rule, transfer of palm trees outside the agricultural quarantine area is prohibited.

MoAF officials seize truckload of infested palm

The ministry mentioned that a quantity of specialists from the Directorate General of Agriculture and Livestock in North and South Batinah seized a truckload of palm trees whilst getting transferred from Sohar. According to the MoAF selection issued on January eight it is prohibited to transfer palm trees, as it could be infected by Red Palm Weevil, from the locations of agricultural quarantine. MoAF urges citizens and residents not to transfer palm trees except in accordance with the permits and to report any violation to decrease the spread of Red Palm Weevil.

Buraimi: Buraimi, Mahdah,
North Batinah: Sohar, Shinas, Liwa, Saham, Khabourah, Suwaiq
South Batinah: Barka, Rustaq
North Sharqiyah: Sinaw in Mudhaibi, Al Qabil
South Sharqiyah: Sur, Jalaan Bani Bu Hassan
Dhahirah: Ibri, Yanqul, Dhank
Dakhliyah: Bahla
