The ministry stated, “Those citizens and residents who wish to perform hajj pilgrimage during this year and accepted by the electronic sorting announced by the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs have to proceed to the nearest health centre in their governorate in order to take the necessary vaccinations.”
It added that the two vaccines offered are for meningococcal meningitis and seasonal influenza.
“The quadric-vaccination against meningococcal meningitis (ACWY 135) gives immunity for 3 years. Therefore, these who have been immunised with this vaccine for a period of not much more than 3 years and have documentary proof, want not be vaccinated once again.
“Seasonal influenza vaccine, which provides seasonal immunity against seasonal influenza diseases, is given annually.”
The ministry urges all pilgrims to take vaccination prior to departure for a period not significantly less than ten days, which is regarded as a prerequisite to execute hajj, according to the guidelines of the competent authorities.
“All are requested to adhere to the above instructions in order to prevent transmission of diseases and safeguard public health.”
