Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries to set up ramp at Lima port to facilitate ferrying of automobiles

Muscat – 

H E Dr Fuad bin Ja’afar bin Mohammed al Sajwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, final week signed an agreement with Khimji Ramdas to style and construct a ramp at the fishing port of Lima in the wilayat of Khasab in Musandam.

Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries project which expenses about RO599,900 will facilitate transportation of automobiles from Lima to other wilayats by the National Ferries Company (NFC). The project aims to market tourism movement and linking Lima with other wilayats.

It also aims to help fishermen to transport fish from the port of Lima to nearby and overseas markets. It will raise the regular of living of fishermen and improve fish production and offer extra employment possibilities for the folks of Lima.

Mehdi bin Mohammed al Abduwani, chairman of NFC mentioned, “The project is an crucial step to assistance the national economy and improve tourism site visitors. Ferry trips to Lima started in 2011. These trips linked Lima with some other wilayats such as Khasab, Shinas and Dibba.

“NFC currently carries out 14 trips a week from Lima to other wilayats. We transported more than 16,900 passengers until the end of August.”
