Men can opt to train in automatic automobiles from Jan 1, 2019: ROP

Brig Gen Eng Mohammed bin Awad al Rawas, director common of Traffic created the announcement in the course of a meeting with instruction instructors at the Traffic Safety Institute in Seeb.

At present, guys are only permitted to train in automobiles with manual transmission.

Addressing the instructors, Brig Gen Eng Rawas stated, “Those keen to undergo instruction will have the choice to select in between automatic and manual transmissions.

“The decision was made in response to the requests of driving instructors and members of society to allow training and tests on manual and automatic transmission cars for both men and women.”

He stated that following the new rule comes into impact guys can nevertheless discover driving in automobiles with manual transmission. “The new rule which will come into effect from January 1, 2019 is based on a study conducted by the Directorate General of Traffic. The study took views of driving instructors across the country. We found that most driving instructors were open to change. A year’s time is being given so that they are ready to shift to the new system of training.”
