“Pravasi Malayalis or NRKs who have Norka identity card will now get seven per cent discount on ticket prices to and from travel from India,” a statement issued from the workplace of Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, study.
A pact was signed by Norka-Roots CEO K Harikrishnan and Oman Air regional vice president Sunil V A in the presence of Vijayan on Monday. “Oman Air and Norka-Roots officials signed an MoU regarding this in the presence of CM Pinarayi Vijayan,” added the statement.
Norka-Roots is a public sector undertaking which implements welfare schemes of the Government of Kerala. In addition, it is permitted by the Protector General of Emigrants, India, as a licensed recruiting agency.
Norka coordinates efforts for remedial action on threats to the lives and home of these who are left at house, for tracing missing persons abroad, for getting compensation from sponsors, for taking action on cheating by recruiting agents and other such grievances of NRKs. It gives help to evacuate NRKs from strife-torn locations and transport them to their house towns.
Norka-Roots identity cards are issued to NRKs functioning for a minimum of six months in a foreign nation. The ID card is issued to all NRKs.
