With the enormous presence of audience such as prominent personalities of Salalah and individuals from all the walks of life, well-known Malayalam writer Subhash Chandran inaugurated the Kerala Wing, a new linguistic wing beneath Indian Social Club Salalah, by lighting the lamp.
Famous Malayalam film actor, Manoj K Jayan, was the chief guest and Manpreet Singh, chairman, Indian Social Club Salalah was the guest of honour. In the inaugural speech, Chandran alerted the expat neighborhood about the want of understanding the mother tongue and its significance and preserving and practicing the tradition art and culture types. He added that language and culture are two integral components of the society and if we want to preserve and stick to culture, we should not forgot the language.
The function began with the welcome speech by the cultural secretary Vinay Kumar. The convener of the newly formed wing, Suresh Kumar, narrated the aim and activities of the new wing and assured the audience that the wing will perform for all the class of Keralites, specially the underprivileged ones. Singh released the new logo of the wing. In his speech, he assured all the help and blessing to the newly formed wing. The function honoured Pavithra, who has been lately elected to the Loka Kerala Sabha by the Government of Kerala, by presenting a memento. Various standard entertainment programmes had been an additional attraction of the function. All the choreographers had been presented with mementos by chief guest Jayan. The function ended with vote of thanks by co-convener, Dr Shaji P Sreedhar.
