To mark the International Dance Day on 29th
April, the Leelangika Kathak Group, led by their guru, Jhumpa Chakraborty, held a Tatkar Competition.
Ms.Jhumpa Chakraborty is a member of The International Dance Council or CID which is the official umbrella organization for all types of dance of the globe. It is a non-governmental organization founded in 1973 inside the UNESCO with it is headquarters in Paris.
The art of dance visually represents the tradition, culture, and music of the individuals. Dance competitions bring to the forefront the correct kind of this art.
In the Kathak dance, tatkar is a sort of rhythmic footwork. Tatkar has created into a extremely sophisticated rhythmic pattern of footwork. This year with the theme of Dance Day becoming ‘return to the roots’, Leelangika celebrated the spirit of Kathak with a Tatkar Competition..
At the Tatkar Competition, the participating girls had been place into 5 groups according to their ages. The competitors took spot in a hall decked up with curtains of multicoloured dupattas by enthusiastic mothers. Ms. Jhumpa Chakraborty was most proud of all the girls and encouraged all the participants who had provided their greatest.
