First Oman Women’s Summit to be held on October 24

The selection to designate October 17 as Omani Women’s Day was taken throughout a symposium on Omani females organised in 2009 on the guidelines of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

H H Sayyida Rawan Ahmed al Said will be the chief guest at the summit which aims to empower females in Oman and aid them realise their prospective via inspirational talks and insightful discussions.

Announcing the particulars of the summit at a press conference on Monday, the management of Experiment Events stated, “The Oman Women’s Summit takes His Majesty the Sultan’s initiative towards women empowerment and creates a platform at an international level by gathering passionate women under one roof from across the sultanate including international female speakers who will encourage and inspire Omani women further by sharing their experiences, opportunities and challenges.”

Zameel Ameen, director of Experiment Events stated, “The summit will concentrate on empowering females via talks and discussions.

“There will be a host of networking opportunities and a chance to see the unseen talents of Omani women. Women speakers from Oman, Italy, Sweden, Dubai, Kuwait and Bahrain will address the conference. This is an important event for the women of Oman. We support them in their endeavours and want to re-emphasise that their country stands by them in all that they are trying to achieve.”

Said al Shanfari, CEO of Oman Convention &amp Exhibition Centre stated, “We are delighted to host the Oman Women’s Summit in its first edition. This event celebrates the achievements of Omani women and follows His Majesty the Sultan’s mandate in recognising the many roles women play in our society today.”

The summit will take off with a keynote speech on #Oman4Her. The keynote speaker would be Safa al Hashem, member of National Assembly of Kuwait.

Spartan Race international brand ambassador Marwa al Wadhahi will speak of her encounter on ‘Going Forward’.

A TEDx junior speaker Diya Isha will deliberate on ‘The Correlation between Beauty and Truth’. Author and humanitarian Arwa al Wagayan from Kuwait will share her views on ‘In for Charity’. ‘Women in the Mirror’ will be the subject of discussion with panelists Rahma al Mahrooqi – deputy vice chancellor of Post Graduate Research and Studies, SQU, Dr Nadiya al Saady – executive director, OAPGRC, Shaima al Aufi – manager, Corporate Communications Orpic, Prof Yusra Mouzughi – vice chancellor, Muscat University and Sayyida Basma al Said – CEO, Whispers of Serenity Clinic.
