EVRT Middle East to commence on January 17

On January 18, the electric fleet will drive a distance of 504km from Abu Dhabi in the UAE to Muscat in Oman. Ben Pullen, CEO and founder of Global Electric Vehicle Road Trip, mentioned that there has been a large buzz about electric autos more than the previous couple of years.

“It’s all for good reason – in the last five years the electric vehicle has become a viable possibility for everyone with technological advancements seeing the range increase from 80 to 600km. There are currently over 370 charging stations, making the UAE the fifth most densely populated charging destination in the world. If you check out Plugshare, you can see that your own electric vehicle road trip is possible.”

Gary D West, head of Future Mobility Middle East at General Motors, mentioned, “Last year, the EVRT Middle East gave enthusiasts a first look at the Chevrolet Bolt EV as it was put to the test driving over 1,750km from the UAE to Oman and back.”

The EVRT Middle East Challenge puts teams and electric autos head-to-head to verify the efficiency and variety. The trip will cross the desert, mountains of the UAE and the winding roads overlooking the Sea of Oman.
