Dhow exhibition puts spotlight on Oman’s wealthy maritime heritage

The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of H E Renaud Salins, Ambassador of France to the sultanate and H E Mohamed bin Youssef al Zarafi, Undersecretary for Financial and Administrative Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The exhibition, which has on show Omani dhow models by the Oman maritime workshop situated in Qantab, aims to make identified to a wide audience the extended and prosperous partnership of the sultanate with the sea, a wealthy Omani heritage.

The exhibition also presents conventional tools utilized in the building of dhows as nicely as different varieties of rope and objects associated to navigation.

One of the exceptional pieces of the exhibition is a 1/10 scale model of the Jewel of Muscat, a conventional Omani industrial dhow donated by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to Singapore in 2010.

The exhibition is on at CFO till March eight.
