Around 1,000 take component in walkathon to produce awareness about stroke

Around 1,000 individuals from all walks of life attended the occasion held by Badr al Samaa Hospital beneath the umbrella of Ministry of Health. The walkathon, named ‘Time is Brain’, was held for virtually an hour inside the park. The occasion also incorporated lectures and free of charge well being verify-ups.

VT Vinod, director of Badr al Samaa Group of Hospitals stated, “This is the initial-ever campaign that we are carrying out in Oman to raise awareness amongst the individuals.

“Stroke is the second most prevalent cause for deaths after cardiac arrest around the world and the scene in Oman is no different. There have been reports of strokes in the country and we at Badr al Samaa are well equipped with every facility, treatment methods, specialists and experts to treat patients. But more than treatment what is needed at this hour is proper understanding and awareness of the causes and treatment for the ailment, and our walkathon here is aimed at this.”

Sameer Khan, who was there at the occasion with his family members, stated, “I am here to take part in the event and to know more about the issues that are linked with stroke. It is a good awareness programme and I now know the symptoms of stroke and how to tackle them.”
