A total of 32 teams, such as 11 from Muscat Municipality, will participate in the Muscat Municipality Cricket Tournament 2018, organised by the municipality for the third time, in cooperation with Oman Cricket.
The tournament will be held from November two to 30 each and every Friday at Qurum Natural Park. Five Omani civil teams and 16 teams from the private sector will also take element.
Adel bin Abdulaziz Arafat, assistant director basic of the General Directorate of Human Resources at the municipality, stated that the municipality seeks by means of this tournament to spend focus to physical activities and boost sports activities that will advantage the employees. “Cricket gathers 11 players in different levels of experience in the game and helps develop individual skills. This helps in building bonds of cooperation and brotherhood among players, which is one of the objectives of the municipality,” he stated.
The guidelines of the tournament ready by the organising committee have been also discussed. A video report on the overall performance and final results of the final tournament in 2017 was also reviewed. Mohammed bin Abdullah al Mahrouqi, chairman of the Sports Activity Committee in Muscat Municipality stated, “We are keen to invest in developing the skills of the teams and provide them with continuous care by creating an institutional umbrella for such activities.” Mahrouqi added that the tournament has an influence on the municipality’s staff, each Omanis and expatriates. The municipality is going ahead with all the preparations for the productive staging of the tournament.
