This was announced by H E Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed al Sarmi, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Higher Education at an occasion on Tuesday.
Some 500 internal scholarships have been allocated to study educational majors at private universities namely Sharqiyah, Nizwa, Sohar and Dhofar. The move comes in a bid to meet the wants of the Ministry of Education with relation to science and math majors, he added.
The quantity of study programmes at public greater education institutions, scholarships and grants for the academic year 2018-19 stood at 392 such as 93 at public greater education institutions, 191 for foreign scholarships and grants and 108 programmes for internal scholarships and grants.
The Ministry of Higher Education represented by the Higher Education Admission Center (HEAC) prepares to open registration at the e-admission program for students of the common education diploma and their equivalents for the academic year 2018-19 from April 1 to June 1, he added.
H E Dr Sarmi added that Omani students in the age group of 16 to 25 can register by means of the e-admission program and apply for the supplied study programmes at public greater education institutions, domestic scholarships and grants at private greater education institutions, as effectively as foreign scholarships and grants for study at greater education institutions outdoors the sultanate.
He mentioned that to boost procedures for the foreign scholarships, the ministry has introduced a new study programme for students who have direct admission to the majors from a single of the suggested universities. H E Dr Sarmi also launched the updated site of HEAC and the upgraded version of ‘Iltahiq’ app.
